Duster was born with unusable front paws. The owner was told to put Duster down, but the dog
was too healthy - he gave this sweet puppy to HART in hopes we could find a loving home.
We are raising money for a cart and estimate we will need $500 Can You Help? |

| A DAY IN THE LIFE OF DUSTER | ||||
| My day starts out playing with my big brother Luke. He is awesome and very patient with me. | ||||
| Play, Play, Play. I just love this singing candy cane. | ||||
| I love to run and even have learned to play ball. | ||||
| I learned to climb 16 steps all by myself. No problem. | ||||
| Well, everyone deserves a rest on the way up. I did say there were 16 steps, right? | ||||
| All my brothers and sisters used to hide from me on the couch but then, I finally learned how to get on the couch. HA HA HA | ||||

| I noticed they moved out the coffee table and put three quilts and two blankets down because of the way I get off the couch. | ||||
| Watch out guys, no one is safe now. | ||||
| We are now referred to as the couch potatoes | ||||
| If people come over and sit on my couch, I go in the middle of the room and stare at them. That REALLY freaks them out. Move on, buddies. | ||||
| It is almost SPRING guys, I LOVE going out and sitting on my swing and watch everything going on. I have some good neighborhood gossip to tell all of you !!!! | ||||
| And then one of my other favorite things is sleeping in a bed. Boy, is that awesome. Goodnight from your Duster. Sweet Dreams. | ||||

03/06/2010 I have talked to Dr. Wendy and she recommended K-9 Cart Company East. She told me to call them because with Duster growing she didn't think we could purchase it now because she would outgrow it in a month or two. I have pulled up their website and I called Dr. Parkes. He is a retired orthopedic doctor and now does these carts. He said to wait until she is about 5 months old and is slowing down on growing. He also told me a way to strengthen her back legs in the position they will be in when she gets the cart. His suggestion was to contact him the end of April with her measurements and weight to see where she is and for me to do these leg exercises so her back legs stay strong. I have emailed K9 caddie.com because they make slings and they are checking to see if they have anything that would work for no front limbs. Duster's last shot is on Friday March 19th at 3:30 with Dr. Wendy. Norma |

2/08/2010 Hi Roxanne, Just to let you know I did get Duster to her vet appointment in Monroe on Friday for her shots. She is quite the package. She gave me a LOT more gray hairs than I already had. With the snow coming I cancelled my eye appointment and moved Duster's up. Being in a hurry, I didn't have a cage small enough to fit in my car, so I saw my laundry basket and put Duster in there. Since when she stood on her hind legs all you could see was her eyes and up I thought I was safe. I did not want her in the front in case the roads got bad. I had a couple of large boxes that I brought home a mailing to do for Cintas so I put the large boxes around the basket to ensure it did not move if I had to stop suddenly. So off we went with Duster howling in the back because she wanted up front with me. I got almost to McDonalds and noticed that it had gotten very quiet in the back so I glanced in my rear view mirror. What I saw actually made me just about have a heart attack. There was Duster out of the basket on top of the large box standing on her hind legs looking out the window. She actually looked like ET standing there. I very slowly pulled over to McDonalds and then put her in the front seat. She bravely got her shots and on to home we went. She weighed 12 pounds. It was WONDERFUL actually being snowed in with Duster and the whole crew on Saturday. Duster is such a fun puppy and so full of life. She loves Luke and they play constantly. Last night Baby, Zach, and Luke were laying on the couch and across the floor towards them comes Duster. It was so funny, because they all pulled their feet and tails back when they saw her coming. Duster's next appointment is on February 26. I will get with you later in the week about arrangements for Camp Bow Wow. A couple of my friends mailed in donations for the cart this weekend.
