HART stands for Homeless Animal Rescue Team. HART’s mission is to rescue homeless animals, saving them from euthanization, abandonment, and abuse with the goal of placing them in forever homes. Our rescue animals are housed in foster homes.

HART members share the same goal to save, spay/neuter, love, and find them forever homes. HART is a 100% volunteer, non-profit 501c3 charity organization with no paid staff. All donations are tax deductible and will directly benefit the animals.

Top notch veterinarian care
HART partners with several veterinary clinics/hospitals in and around the tri-state area that go above and beyond to provide excellent medical care to all our cats and dogs. All of our animals receive necessary vaccines, fecal tests, FIV/FeLV/4dx/heartworm testing, spay/neuter, and microchip, prior to adoption.
All currently needed vaccinations
Every animal rescued by HART receives all recommended and state mandated vaccines including FVRCP (feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia) distemper, parvo, bordatella, and rabies. Additional vaccines are given as warranted to those in need (example: lyme disease).
Specialized treatment and surgeries as needed
More often than not, those rescued by HART are in need of much more than basic veterinary care. HART has and will continue to provide dentals, life saving surgeries, emergency vet care for illness and/or trauma, and rehabilitation.
24 Pet Watch Microchips
Each and every HART rescue will be chipped with a microchip before they are adopted. HART will always remain as a secondary owner on these chips. After one of our cats or dogs have hit the jackpot and found their forever home, HART will transfer the primary microchip ownership to the new adopter.
Spay / Neuter of all animals
One of the biggest obstacles we face year after year is the overpopulation of cats and dogs everywhere! While we can’t save the world, we can do our part for the animals in our community. Each female dog or cat can have multiple sizable litters a year, so HART will spay and neuter all animals that are brought into our rescue.
Owner Surrenders:
HART’s mission is to rescue homeless animals. Your own pets should be considered part of your family, and so if you absolutely must surrender a family pet, we encourage you to try to place your animal with another family member, or a friend. Another option is your local no-kill animal shelter.
However, if you have exhausted all other options, we do occasionally accept owner surrenders in certain limited circumstances. An open foster home must be available, or the owner would agree to foster until the animal is adopted, if we deem this to be an acceptable option. The animal must be up to date on all vetting and spayed/neutered or the owner must be willing to pay for these services at one of our preferred veterinarians. In addition, a surrender fee will be charged to help offset the costs of keeping the dog or cat in our rescue until adopted.
